NRGene Green Achieves Full Clubroot Resistance in Canola, Eyes Commercialization in Canada

SASKATOON, SK — September 4, 2025 — Leads & Copy — NRGene Green, a leader in AI-driven genomics for crop improvement, has announced field trial results confirming complete resistance to clubroot in canola. The company says this marks the first field demonstration of immunity-level resistance to the disease.

Extensive field trials in 2025 showed NRGene’s advanced introgressed donor lines achieved 0% disease incidence under high pathogen pressure. Existing industry-resistant varieties collapsed with disease infection rates exceeding 74%. NRGene says this is a breakthrough for global oilseed production, offering Canadian farmers a robust defense against clubroot, which threatens billions in yield losses worldwide.

Dr. Masood Rizvi, General Manager of NRGene Green, stated that farmers worldwide will have access to canola varieties that combine complete disease immunity with commercial viability.

The resistant lines and molecular markers are now available for licensing to commercial breeding programs and seed companies.
