BioHarvest Achieves Scalable Production of Plant-Based Exosomes

Rehovot, Israel — September 10, 2025 — Leads & Copy — BioHarvest Sciences Inc. has announced it has successfully produced plant-based exosomes at scale in its bioreactor media. The company said the achievement marks advancement in its Botanical Synthesis platform and its ability to generate new revenue streams.

Exosomes are nano-sized extracellular vesicles secreted by plant cells, offering bioactive properties and enhanced absorption compared to regular plant compounds. They are sought after in therapeutic and cosmetic applications, including drug delivery, tissue regeneration, and skincare.

BioHarvest’s bioreactors are designed to create the ideal environment for high-yield exosome production, combining optimized growth media with light-permeable bioreactors. The company says its system drives cells to release exosomes enriched with metabolites, offering superior yields and quality compared to plant or animal-derived systems.

CEO Ilan Sobel stated the company is pushing the boundaries of its Botanical Synthesis technology. BioHarvest anticipates launching a new skincare application using exosomes to carry viniferin within 18 to 24 months.

The company says plant-based exosomes are emerging as a safer alternative to synthetic or mammalian counterparts, with the global exosome market expected to grow from $0.7B in 2025 to $2.2B by 2030.

BioHarvest exosomes contain viniferin, a polyphenol used for anti-aging benefits in skincare. The company says its plant-derived exosomes provide an improved delivery vehicle for viniferin, enhancing absorption in the skin.
