rabbit Releases rabbitOS 2 with New AI Agentic Capabilities

September 8, 2025 — Leads & Copy — AI startup rabbit has launched rabbitOS 2, the second generation of its AI-centric operating system for the rabbit r1 AI companion device. rabbitOS 2 introduces a revamped user experience for rabbit r1, featuring a fresh, colorful card-based design and new AI agentic capabilities with creations, allowing users to build tools, games, and other experiences directly on r1 by talking to the device.

rabbitOS 2 includes a new card-based design language that is more familiar, accessible, and playful. According to rabbit founder and CEO Jesse Lyu, the company realized there was a gap between user expectations and the original software experience, prompting a complete software revamp and redesign of the r1 experience.

rabbitOS 2 transforms rabbit r1 into a platform for users to create their own experiences with AI, and with creations, and more than 30 OTAs over the past 16 months, r1 is a completely new device.

The new OS offers three main benefits: it feels more familiar, it’s more accessible, and the r1 experience is more playful, tactile, and engaging. rabbit’s newest agentic AI development, creations, allows users to build new software tools and games through conversations with rabbit’s AI agent.

rabbit r1 lets users generate their own interface, voice, and software on device by speaking to an AI agent. Creations is powered by rabbit intern. R1 users can make their own on-device creations, or they can visit rabbit.tech/creations and install existing creations for free.

rabbitOS 2 also introduces updates based on user feedback, including visible conversation flow, multi-modal functionality, and the ability to mute or unmute conversations. Web-based rabbit intern tasks can be started on r1, and follow-ups for tasks are supported in rabbithole. rabbit intern now supports image generation, and meeting recordings are stored locally and work offline.

rabbit will offer free global shipping on all new r1 orders through the end of September. r1 is available for purchase at rabbit.tech; online at Amazon, Best Buy, and Target for customers in the U.S.; and select offline retail stores.

rabbit is building an AI-native operating system around cross-platform agentic capabilities and custom hardware. The company has released rabbit r1 and rabbit intern since its launch.
