Toronto, Ontario — November 4, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Ontario’s Greenbelt community marked the 20th anniversary of the province’s Greenbelt at the Toronto Botanical Garden on October 28, 2025, celebrating environmental leadership and sustainable growth.
Partners and advocates reflected on two decades of the Greenbelt, which spans 2 million acres of protected farmland, forests, and wetlands across the Greater Golden Horseshoe, encompassing key ecological and agricultural zones like the Niagara Escarpment and the Holland Marsh.
Edward McDonnel, CEO of the Greenbelt Foundation, emphasized the Greenbelt’s role in protecting lands and waters, highlighting the collective commitment to its permanent protection.
The Friend of the Greenbelt Award recognized individuals and organizations, including Marlaine Koehler, Sandy Houston, Kerry-Ann Charles, RBC Foundation, Shraiyah Jeevithan, and Omar Kattan, for their contributions. The evening also featured performances by Stacey Laforme, Kevin Hearn, Josh Finlayson, and Hugh Marsh, underscoring the Greenbelt’s cultural and ecological significance.
